21 white tab each containing Levonorgestrel 150 mcg, ethinyl estradiol 30 mcg, 7 brown coated tab each containing Fe fumarate 75 mg
Dosage/Direction for Use
Take the 1st white tab opposite the pointing arrow of the 1st pack on the 1st day of onset of the menstrual period. Follow the arrow direction & take 1 white tab daily (until all 21 white tab are finished) & then take 1 brown coated tab daily for 7 days. Begin a new wk pack the day after the last brown coated tab has been taken.
Administration
Should be taken with food: Take at the same time each day.
Special Precautions
Use another method of birth control if 1 or 2 white tab are missed or begin a pack after the proper starting day (ie, later than 1st day of the menstrual period) until the patient has taken a white tab for 7 consecutive days. Discard the rest of the pack & start a fresh pack if the patient has forgotten to take ≥3 white tab in a row. Patient missed their period 2 mth in a row. Use another method of birth control if the patient has heavy vomiting or diarrhea. Do not use in women who have or have had blood clots in the legs, lungs, or eyes, cancer of the breast or sex organs, unexplained vag bleeding, stroke or heart attack, angina pectoris, or those who suspect they may be pregnant. Young women w/o a regular menstrual cycle or w/ scanty periods should use another method of contraception. May have difficulty becoming pregnant or may fail to have menstrual periods after discontinuation. Women w/ diabetes, high BP, high cholesterol, migraine, epilepsy, gall bladder, heart or kidney disease. Discontinue at least 4 wk before & 2 wk after effective surgery or during & following a period of prolonged immobilization. Wait 4-6 wk before starting OCs after child birth. Increased risk of serious adverse effects on the heart & blood vessels w/ cigarette smoking. Concomitant use w/ antibiotics, barbiturates, or drugs used for the treatment of epilepsy or TB. Rule out pregnancy before continuing the medication.
Adverse Reactions
Stomach sickness, vomiting, spotting (bleeding) between menstrual periods, wt gain, & breast tenderness.
Drug Interactions
May decrease the effectiveness w/ antibiotics, barbiturates, or drugs used for the treatment of epilepsy or TB.
